Headaches & Migraines

Treatment in Overland Park, KS · Dr. Ladd Carlston

What it feels like

Tension at base of skull. Pain behind the eyes. Throbbing one-sided pain. Sensitivity to light. Recurring pattern — weekly or monthly.

What’s actually causing it

Most headache treatment is backwards. You take a pill, the pain goes away for a few hours, and then it comes back. The thing nobody checks is the muscles at the base of your skull and upper neck — the suboccipitals, the upper trapezius, the SCM. When these muscles are overworking because of poor posture, jaw tension, or a mid-back that isn't moving properly, they refer pain directly into your head. I find which muscles are driving the pattern, release them, and retrain the system so the headaches stop coming back.

How I treat it

I test the muscles around the affected area individually, find which ones aren’t firing, and reset the connection using gentle techniques. No cracking, no popping.

How long it takes

Most patients feel a difference after one session. Chronic cases typically resolve in 4–6 sessions.

PR

“I had been suffering for years and was unsuccessfully treated by others. In one visit, Dr. Ladd was able to find and address the real issue.”

Patient review · Headaches & Migraines patient

Why does my headaches & migraines keep coming back?

Because the weak muscle causing it hasn’t been found and reset. I treat the cause, not the symptom.

Will you crack my joints?

Never. My techniques are gentle, precise, and comfortable. No high-velocity adjustments.
